Decatur Foreclosed Homes, A Good Place to Settle Down

The area in the places north East of Atlanta can be a great place to purchase a home if you area careful.

Decatur foreclosures for sale have always been a little on the upper end of the price scale and even today as the market is falling and the price of a foreclosed property in and around Atlanta falling almost daily, the area around Decatur has held up pretty well against the onslaught of the falling market. While the majority of the homes here are quite a bit older than a lot of property in the Atlanta area most people find that the area has a certain charm and character about it that you can’t get in newer construction and that is part of the allure to purchasing in the area.

While more and more of the newer construction in the subdivisions and suburbs of Metro Atlanta make the way to the foreclosure lists and the prices on them continue to slowly fall, the homes in Decatur, for the most part, tend to hold up fairly well against that competition. This is a testament to the area and to the quality construction that these homes, many of which are turn of the century construction.

Decatur for the most part is setting about on average in the unemployment figures and yet there tends to be somewhat less people here that are losing property due to the foreclosure system. Historically the homes here tend to bring an above average price and tend to sit vacant on the market for shorter periods of time than some of the homes in the neighboring communities, which tends to make them a historically better investment for someone that is looking to make a profit on the property they buy.

Careful choosing and research should bring you a great set of listings from which to choose although even in this market the good ones still tend to move rather fast.
