what is an average per home commission for a new home sales person in southern california?

I am fairly new to the business and am in the position where I will be negotiating my commission with a couple builders that I recently interviewed with. I do not want to come in asking for something too high – or too low. I have a college degree, have been licensed since 2003, and have earned my CSP designation. I
I am looking for commission rates specifically for NEW HOME sales people – who work for the builder at the sales office – not resale agents.

    Typically in a real estate transaction the total commission is 6% of the sale price. The selling agent gets half and the buying agent gets half.
