As a young Black male, I think he needs to be around other positve Black kids, while allowing for diversity in the school. We are looking for a quiet suburban town that still has easy accesibility to common nee(i.e.supermarkets,movie theater,stores,malls, things like that in a 10-15 minute radius)as well as city/airport/hospitals; sub-divisions in the $300-500,000 range.Is Henry/Gwinett any good? WehavelookedinMcDonough ,Snelville,Lawrenceville,Sandy Springs,and Dunwoody. Also, what GA schools offer good Masters programs in Healthcare?
If anyone mis-understood, I apologize: I wasn’t implying that we needed to be surrounded by African Americans, but rather I was simply saying that we were aiming to look for a community with a mix of cultures,and a POSITIVE black influence for an impressionable pre-teen.. I am specifically speaking about americans. In the US there are thousands of organizations that aim to improve the world but focus on assisting 3rd world countries rather than the US. Every year americans also send billions of dollars to foreign countries in the form of aid. I am just wondering why those people don’t instead dedicate themselves first to improving the US and ending the issues that we have here. I just feel like if all the people living in america who are social minded and all about improving the lives of others dedicated themselves and their money to assisting other people in america this country would truly become the best place on earth.

and please dont say its because america doesnt have as many problems as say Uganda. America has some extreme poverty, high murder rate, TONS of extremely disenfranchised communities, and a rediculas amount of inequity.

yet many of the Americans in positions to help improve the quality of life for other Americans chose instead to improve life in other countries. Now im not saying that other countries dont deserve help. Im just saying that if for 10 years EVERY american who champions social causes focuses their time and energy and money on the US we may actually be able to rid ourselves of many of the problems we have. Then we might be able to bring our country and our general population to a place where more good can actually be served in the world because more people will be equipped to help.

the “poorest people in america; rich by foreign standards” isn’t true. take for example people living in Todd County, S.D. this is one of americas poorest counties. the average income is around 26000. yes its true that if someone in the sudan for example made this amount per year they would be able to live very well but the cost of living in Sudan is much lower than in america. if you adjust for the cost of living then you will see that people making 26000 in the US are living just as badly as people making much less in the Sudan.

you just have to walk through a poor county in the US to see that…
